Egypt

I moved from Boston to Egypt back in 2009. It was one of the most polarizing adventures of my life. I lived and worked there for just over a year and had some of the best / most terrifying experiences of my life.
I got to walk on top of queen Nefertari temple although I almost got shot. It was early as we were trying to catch the sun rising over Abu Simbel (Pharaoh Ramesses II tomb). I was unaware of the guards on watch at the temple but shortly after we set up someone was running up the hill quite quickly shouting in Arabic. I noticed as he got closer he had an AK41 in his hands. Luckily the photographer Hesham Labib was Egyptian and mild-mannered. Calmed the situation and explained why we were there and showed him our photography permit. The situation was so intense I almost needed to change my pants.
