Venice

Hopping onboard a water taxi from the airport to my hotel was a real bucket list moment for me. One of those experiences you hear about or see on TV but never thought you’d do it one day. No-one really travelled to Europe when I was a kid or at least none of the people that I was surrounded by did. Once we docked, there it was. Like walking onto a film set, or entering a souvenir snow globe. Just as I had pictured it. No maps, just wandering, discovering. Venice was a place I didn’t mind getting lost in. I encouraged it. Taking a canal boat from one side of Venice to the other was the ultimate on my tourist porn, to-do list. Food, atmosphere, friends, listening to Italian while eating Italian. A true experience of my lifetime.
